A hospice care charity is calling on people to climb Yorkshire’s Three Peaks this September to raise vital funds.
The popular challenge raised more than £11,500 last year, with 40 walkers tackling the peaks in aid of Herriot Hospice Homecare.
The route spans 25 miles with an estimated duration of 12 hours.
Taking place on Saturday, September 14, participants will meet a trained guide at the start line in Horton-in-Ribblesdale before ascending Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent.
By registering for the challenge, each walker will receive a free Herriot technical t-shirt, a fundraising pack full of top tips, regular e-newsletters and a medal upon completion.
Supporter Jayne Molyneux, who took on the challenge in 2023, said: “Taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge was an amazing experience, knowing that with every step I was raising money for such an amazing charity and helping people in our community when they need it most.”
There is a £200 fundraising target for participants taking on the challenge, with all funds supporting Herriot Hospice Homecare, which supports people in their own homes across Hambleton and Richmondshire living with a terminal illness. In addition to its existing services, this year will see the opening of a new inpatient care unit and an emotional wellbeing support hub, with Herriot Hospice@The Lambert in Thirsk undergoing the finishing touches before it opens its door to patients.
